About Mother Tucker Ministries

Mother Tucker MinistriesMother Tucker Ministries, Incorporated is a charitable organization which focuses on meeting the needs of the homeless and displaced families.

We provide assistance on a daily basis to families in need of shelter, food, ,clothing, furniture, assistance with prescriptions, and other miscellaneous social needs.

Prior to being incorporated as Mother Tucker Ministries, the organization operated under the name of The House of Prayer Rescue Home. The House of Prayer Rescue Home was a literal home to more than one hundred homeless men on a daily basis. The organization also had a separate shelter for women located in close proximity to the shelter for men.

Mother Tucker Ministries was one of the first organizations in the City of Tulsa to begin providing food baskets to needy families during holiday seasons such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have distributed more than 20,000 such parcels to needy families over the past 20 years. We have served in excess of 500,000 meals to the homeless in our on site dining facilities as well.

Interestingly, in the beginning of the House of Prayer Rescue Home, Mother Grace Tucker determined that she would institute the practice of allowing those who were homeless to remain at the shelter during the day either out of the extreme heat during summer, or extreme cold during winter. This because the inspiration for what now is the “Day Center of Tulsa”. And when the vision for the Day Center was launched, Mother Tucker was consulted for her advice in regard to its feasibility.

To honor Mother Tucker for her contribution to the city of Tulsa, Main Street from Haskell to Pine was named in her honor, “Mother Tucker Boulevard” in May 2006.

Oral Roberts University also conferred upon her an Honorary Doctorate in May 2001.
Mother Tucker has received numerous awards throughout the years, including the coveted “Freedom Award”, and the “Jefferson Award” for community service.

We will be receiving donations to assist us in our efforts to carry out our mission to assist those in need in areas such as housing, utilities bill payment assistance, food, acquisition of necessary household items, assistance with medical prescriptions, and other relevant areas as needed…
